This is not completely directed towards a specific story,, but rather focusing on the authors. More importantly, this post is focusing on gender. One thing to think about is whether gender plays a difference in a story or how a story is written?
I will offer my opinion here by saying that yes gender does offer a slight difference how a story is written, but I do not think that is the only thing that stands out. I would like to argue that each gender has their own writing style, but I do not know that that influences how the story is told. I would like to think that a person might right really well on a specific topic than someone else might based on experience that they have encountered. There are things that men can do better than women, but there are also things that women can do better than men. That does not say that the opposite gender cannot write on that topic, but it might be told or written differently than it might have originally been written by someone that has experienced the topic/focus of the story.
Does gender play a large role in writing?
Yes I will agree that women might provide more details than men because a male might just want to get directly to the point instead of dragging out the point. That being said, that might also depend on what the person is writing. I feel like the writing depends on the individual rather than the gender of the individual. We will always have great writers on both sides, but I would like to know one thing...What is a major difference in male and female writing in your opinion?

What is courage?
What is courage? Sure, we can pull a direct definition of what courage is, but is that what courage really is? Although we are given a definition of what courage is, does it really mean that that is the only definition of what courage is?
I would have to say that there are many definitions of what courage is. During the first half of the semester, we read Red Badge of Courage, and while reading that, I had many questions and thoughts. However, the one question that came to mind is "Is that really courage?" I never really formed my own answer, but instead I was trying to just get through the story because I couldn't decide if I liked the story or if I had mixed feelings about it.
By the end of the story, I had the thoughts that there is no way that I have the ability to really see courage in the main character. There MIGHT be a small light shining on him gaining insight from others around him that are courageous, but I did not really think the character was courageous. What do you think?
What do you define courage as being?

More than one meaning?
During the first half of the semester, we dived into several different pools as far as our reading goes. One thing that I like looking at is the meaning of a written piece. One piece that we looked at was "The 'Cadian Ball" and "The Storm." As we can tell, a story may have different meanings to it from what we might expect. I want to focus on one thing. The storm. No...Not "The Storm," as in the story that we read, but a storm.
What do you picture when someone mentions a storm? Do you see a disaster waiting to happen? Lightning? Tornados? What?
As we seen in "The Storm," the storm that occurred brought on temptation between two adults that are married. Would have we thought that that would be something to really expect when we just look at the title "The Storm"? Honestly, I will admit that when I read the title "The Storm,' I felt like there was going to be something unexpected rather than a normal storm. In most cases, a storm can have many different meanings, and can be frightening. It can also lead to many unexpected experiences as well. So I want to know...What do YOU think when someone mentions storm?
